A selection of some of the rarest and most endangered butterflies and bees in the UK. 
Swallowtail.- The largest UK butterfly, very rare.
Large Tortoiseshell - Extinct after the war but a few have been seen recently in south England.
Dark Green Fritillary - Most widespread fritillary but has been in decline since the 1970’s.
Purple Admiral - in decline, a few have been seen in oak woodlands in Devon.
Large Blue - this became extinct in 1979 but has been reintroduced in the UK but it’s still very rare.
Wall - this once common butterfly is now restricted to a few small areas in southern England.
