This piece is a portrait of one of two painted dogs, Peanut, that have a permanent home at the Painted Dog Conservation centre in Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe. Painted Dog Conservation does amazing work to protect, rescue and reintroduce dogs back into the wild but unfortunately Peanut is unable to be reintroduced. Having spent time with this wonderful dog, I felt driven to create a portrait of this amazing animal and in some way try to immortalise this dog's wonderful spirit.
